Ushta

Questions people ask

Short answers to what people ask before they join Ushta, as the app works today. The answers are the same wherever in the world you live. If your question is not here, write to us at [email protected]. For a longer read, see Zoroastrian matrimony, Irani Zoroastrian matrimony and Parsi matrimony abroad.

Is Ushta really free?

Yes. Ushta has no paid tier, no featured profiles and no advertising, so nobody can pay to be shown more often or higher up. Every member has the same app and the same three introductions a day, and nobody from our team will ever ask you to pay.

Who can join?

Ushta is for Zoroastrians aged 21 and over, wherever in the world they live: Parsi, Irani and Iranian Zoroastrian, or Other Zoroastrian if none of those describes you. It is for people who are not married or engaged and are looking for a life partner: marriage, or a serious relationship open to marriage. Our team asks about your community on the verification call.

How does verification work?

Before you can see anyone, you add a government ID, such as a passport, driving licence or PAN card, and a selfie taken in the app. A person on our team checks them, then calls you for a short chat and asks about your community. Your ID and selfie are seen only by our verification team, and are deleted 30 days after our decision.

Why only three introductions a day?

So that each profile is read properly, and a small community is not run through in a week. Each morning at 9:00 your time, Discover shows you up to three profiles, chosen automatically from your preferences and theirs; nobody on our team picks them. You can write to up to three people a day.

Can my parents make a profile for me?

Yes, as long as you know about it and agree, and we confirm that with you on the verification call. A parent, brother, sister or another relative can make the profile and manage it, and it says plainly that a family member manages it and how they are related to you. Ushta never shows other members the relative's name or number, and before anyone meets, you speak for yourself.

Who can see my photos?

You choose, when you add them and later in Settings, under Privacy. There are two choices: Everyone on Ushta, meaning any verified member Ushta shows your profile to, or Only people I match with, which keeps them hidden until a chat opens between you. Either way, our team checks every profile photo before other members see it.

Is there an app?

Ushta works in the browser on your phone or computer, at ushta.in, so there is nothing to download, and the same account works on both. An Android app is on its way to Google Play.

How do I delete my account?

Once you are verified, go to Me, then Settings, then Account, then Delete my account in the app. Your profile disappears at once, and you have 7 days to change your mind. If you cannot sign in, or you are still signing up or waiting to be verified, write to us from the email address on your account and we will delete it for you. Our page on deleting your account gives the address.
