Community guidelines
Version 1.0 · Effective 2 October 2026
Ushta works because every member can trust every other member. These guidelines say what that asks of you. They are part of our Terms of use, and our team follows them when deciding what to do about a report.
Who Ushta is for
Ushta is for Zoroastrians, everywhere: Parsi, Irani and Iranian Zoroastrian, 21 and over, wherever in the world you live. If none of those describes you, choose Other Zoroastrian when you join. Whichever you choose, our team asks about your community on the verification call.
Every member is also:
- free to marry: never married, divorced, widowed, or with a marriage annulled
- here to find a life partner: marriage, or a serious relationship open to marriage
Be who you are
- Use your real name and your real date of birth. Our team checks both against your ID.
- Post real, recent photos of yourself.
- Be honest about your marital status, your children, your work, your education and your family. Nobody can check everything, so members rely on each other's word.
- Keep to one account. One person, one profile.
Write to people, not at them
Every conversation on Ushta starts with a note: a message of 20 to 300 characters to one person, written after reading their profile.
- Read the whole profile first, and write about something in it: a prompt answer, a place, something you share.
- Write each note for the person you are sending it to. The same note pasted to many people reads as exactly that.
- Keep phone numbers, links, email addresses and social media handles out of your notes, your About and your prompt answers. Your LinkedIn and Instagram have their own place on your profile, and only your matches see them. Ushta refuses any note, About or prompt answer that plainly has one, but no check can catch every way of writing them, so keeping to this is up to you.
- You can send up to three notes a day. A note that is not answered expires after 14 days.
Respect a no
- Declining is quiet. The person who wrote is not told, and nobody owes anyone a reason.
- If someone declines, unmatches or blocks you, let it be. Do not write to them from another account, and do not look for them on other apps, on social media or through their family.
- Unmatching closes the chat for both of you, and blocking means you will not see each other again.
Money
- Never ask a member for money, gifts, loans or bank details, for any reason.
- Never send money to someone you have met here, however real the reason sounds.
- If anyone asks, report them straight away: choose Report, then Asked me for money.
- Ushta is free. Nobody from our team will ever ask you to pay.
Family-managed profiles
- If you manage a profile for your son, daughter, brother, sister or another relative, say so. Ushta shows a line saying the profile is managed by a family member, and your relationship, on the profile.
- The person the profile is for must know about it and agree. We confirm this with them on the verification call.
- When you write on their behalf, say that you are writing for them.
- Before anyone meets, the person the profile is for speaks for themselves, directly with the other person.
Photos
- Post two to six photos, every one of them of you, with your face clear in at least one.
- Keep them recent, so that someone meeting you would know you.
- No children's faces, including your own children's.
- No nudity and nothing sexual.
- Our team checks every profile photo before other members see it.
What gets you removed
We may warn you, hide your profile or remove you from Ushta for any of these. For the most serious, we remove you at once. Once removed, you may not join again, and for 180 days Ushta will not accept your phone number or email address.
- pretending to be someone else, or using photos that are not yours
- lying about your age, your marital status or your children
- joining while under 21, or while married or engaged
- asking anyone for money, gifts or bank details
- promoting a business, an investment, a cause or another app
- harassment, threats, hate, or abusive or sexual messages
- sharing another member's photos, details or messages outside Ushta
- writing again from another account after a decline, an unmatch or a block, or seeking someone out elsewhere
- making a new account after we have removed you
- anything against the law
How reporting works
If something is wrong, tell us. Tap ⋯ on their profile or in your chat and choose Report, or use Report a problem in Settings, under Safety and support.
- A person on our team reads every report, within 24 hours.
- You get a reference number, such as USH-4821, to quote if you write to us about it.
- The member you report is never told who reported them.
- You can add a few words and up to three screenshots, and choose whether to share your chat with our team. We see only that conversation, and only if you share it.
- Reporting also blocks the member unless you turn that off, so you will not see each other again.
- If three different members report the same person, their profile is hidden while we look into it.
For a complaint a report does not cover, or about how we handled a report, write to our Grievance Officer at [email protected]. We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days of receiving it.
