Ushta

Terms of use

Version 1.0 · Effective 2 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Ushta, a free, verified, members-only matchmaking app for Zoroastrians. By creating an account you accept them, together with our Privacy policy and our Community guidelines, which are part of these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Ushta.

In these terms "we", "us" and "our team" mean Ushta and the people who help to verify members and read reports.

Who can join

You can join Ushta if:

A family member can create and manage a profile for you, but only with your knowledge and consent. We confirm this with you on the verification call, and the profile shows that it is family-managed. The family member who manages it accepts these terms as well.

Ushta is free

Ushta is free to use. There are no plans, no boosts and no ads, and we will never ask you to pay.

We provide Ushta as it is and as it is available. We work to keep it running well, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of faults, and we may change or stop any part of it. If we ever close Ushta, we will tell you first, with time to download your data.

Your account

You sign in with a code we send to your email address, so keep that email account secure, and sign out of Ushta on any device you share. Keep your account details accurate. If you change your phone number, we call to confirm the new number before it can be shared in chat.

Do not let anyone else use your account, apart from a family member who manages your profile with your consent. You are responsible for what is done through it. If you think someone else has got into your account, write to us straight away.

Using Ushta

Use Ushta only to look for a life partner, for yourself or for the family member whose profile you manage, and follow our Community guidelines. You must not post, send or share anything that:

You must also not copy or collect data from Ushta, use automated tools on it, or try to get round its security or its limits.

Verification

Every member is verified by a person before they can write to anyone: a government ID, a selfie taken in the app, and a phone call with our team. There are no exceptions, and no way to skip it.

We may decline to verify you, and we may remove a member at any time, if we cannot verify them, if they break these terms or our guidelines, or if we believe they put other members at risk. If we cannot verify you, we tell you why, and where it is something you can put right, you can send your details again.

What you post

Your photos, your words and everything else you post stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy and resize them, and to show them to other members and to our team, only as Ushta describes and your settings allow, and only to run Ushta. We never use them in advertising or outside the app. The permission ends when they are deleted, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.

Post only what you have the right to post, and on your profile only photos of yourself. We may remove anything that breaks these terms or our guidelines.

Pausing, leaving and removal

You can pause your profile at any time in Settings, under Account. Nobody new sees you, and your chats wait until you resume: you cannot read or send messages while your profile is paused. Notes you have sent are withdrawn, and notes waiting for your reply expire, so they are not there when you resume.

You can delete your account at any time with Delete my account, in Settings, under Account. Your profile disappears at once, and you have 7 days to change your mind; after that your account is removed for good, apart from the records our Privacy policy says the law asks us to keep. If you cannot sign in to delete your account, write to us.

If you break these terms or our guidelines, we may warn you, hide your profile or remove your account. If three different members report you, your profile is hidden while our team looks into it. A member we remove may not join again, and for 180 days Ushta will not accept their phone number or email address, as our Privacy policy explains.

What we check, and what we do not

We verify identity. We do not vet character. Our team checks that each member is a real person whose name, date of birth and photos match a government ID, and speaks to them on the phone. We do not check criminal records, and we cannot confirm everything members tell you about themselves, such as their marital status, education, work, income or family.

We are not part of any conversation, relationship or meeting between members, and we are not responsible for how members behave, on Ushta or off it. Take the care you would with anyone you have just met: read our Safety tips, keep the conversation in Ushta until you are ready, and meet somewhere public.

Limits on our liability

As far as Indian law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, for anything another member says or does, or for anything caused by events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Mumbai have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about these terms or about Ushta.

Grievance redressal

Our Grievance Officer, under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, is:

Write to the Grievance Officer with any complaint about Ushta, about something on it, or about how we handled a report. You can also write from Write to our Grievance Officer, in Settings, under Safety and support.

We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days of receiving it. A complaint that something on Ushta impersonates you, or shows you undressed or in a sexual act, even in an altered picture, is acted on within 24 hours.

If you are not satisfied with the Grievance Officer's decision, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up by the Government of India, within 30 days of receiving it.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will publish the new version here, with its version number and date at the top, and tell you before it takes effect. If you keep using Ushta after that, you accept the new terms. The version you agreed to is shown in Settings, under Legal, Your consent.
